We asked for fakes. You responded by sending us your favorite MacTablet mock-ups. So here at last is our gallery of fake Mac Tablet concept art, submitted by TUAW readers. Now once again it's your turn.
Take a peek through these pictures and tell us which one is your fave. (I suspect that #8 is going to win in a landslide.) Leave us a note in the comments to explain your choice and what you're really looking for in a touch-based tablet computer.

There was another fake mac tablet that I LOVED! and it's not pictured here. It was the one where it was a clamshell design, but the bottom keyboard part was simply see-through touch-sensitive glass, so that it can be used from either side, when it was open, or closed. It'd be interesting to see how they'd tweak the UI to use it when it's opened (unless they do that glass thing where it turns "foggy", but have it display a keyboard), but it's still something I would love to see.

The thing I like about 7 is the detached keyboard.
fyi: i made a mockup design for google chrome interface under osX - http://www.smeidu.com/2008/09/04/google-chrome-for-osx-mockup-design/

What I want is a device 2-3 times the size of the iPhone/Touch that runs a full OS X OS and can run the apps (FCP/Photoshop aside). Something that can take the place of any book because its large enough to be easy on the eyes... but also small enough to have with me all the time.
I think for the business market as well as the education market this could be a true winner... and it would take someone like Apple... to think it through and deliver!!!
(( p.s. I have owned tablet PCs from as far back as the 1992 released NCR 3125.... and am still waiting for someone to get it right - Damn how they have all Sucked !!! ))
I had an HP tablet for a while, and it was uncomfortably hot at times.
If Apple makes a tablet computer, it'll need to stay cool. And considering their MacBook and MacBookPro's heat, this might be a challenge.
That MacLife article of a tablet within an iMac is pretty cool. I also saw this mock up on the internet that is pretty cool looking - http://www.kromekat.nildram.co.uk/portfolio/product/content/bin/images/large/MacBookNano.jpg
But of those listed here I would vote for #6 with #7 a close second.
In the Magazine MacLife they had an article (http://www.maclife.com/patents) about some Apple patents and they show a very cool concept of a tablet that inserts into an iMac.

Is having a keyboard and mouse/trackpad really that bad? Give me an Air over any of these tablet mockups.
Number 7 with the stand is pretty.
