Canadian iTMS Monday?

iTunes Music Store

We know it’s coming, and time is running out for a November launch: “In October, Apple said it would launch in Canada in November, and a company spokesman said this week the company intends to meet that deadline,” says Richard Blackwell of The Globe and Mail.

Could be Monday, or perhaps a Tuesday launch to coincide with New Music Tuesdays? The Canadian Musical Reproduction Rights Agency was apparently close to reaching an agreement with Apple on Thursday. David Basskin, president of the CMRRA, lists reducing piracy as goal number one of bringing the online music giant to Canada. Any Canadian readers care to weigh in on their chances of success?

Albums that are not available at allofmp3.com will do better than others. A legal version of allofmp3 would be nice but like my dream of a Top 5 version of eMusic -- the older and more stable plus fun version -- it won't happen because of the control by the idiots. Does iTunes let you redownload your previous purchases for free, a la eMusic? Does iTunes let you pick the quality of the file? $1.20 or whatever it'll be per track is way too expensive, but I'm glad iTunes is doing well elsewhere, but Canadians surf the net more than most, except for Swedes, I believe. We wanted iTunes when it first appeared, but have since found allofmp3.com and the torrents. Advertise towards those planning to get their first computer, and hope they don't have any friends or read any columns. I was a member of eMusic, and I presently pay for Audible, DI.FM, and Musicmatch. I'm willing to pay for quality mp3's as well, but the illegal guys are getting most of my money so far.

I am a apple nut as are most people who read and post. But anywho i have been telling lots of friends about itunes music store coming to canada and most could care less. For them the idea of buying music is crazy and buying it in digital form is down right insain. I will buy for the exclusive stuff but i dont think many of my age group 18-24 will follow. If anyone can change peoples views on the issue its going to be Apple, not legislation or microsoft thats for sure.
