iFlicks = iTunes for video
File in the “Uber-cool software” category: Helixent Technologies has released
iFlicks, an application that is to video what iTunes is to audio. The
feature-set of the app looks awesome: built-in movie player with full screen playback support, ‘bookmark’ support to
break up a movie into multiple viewing sessions, smart collections (a la smart playlists - automagically update
collections based on a movie’s metadata), gallery view - even integration with Netflix.
Sweet. I can’t wait to test this thing out. The demo
version limits you to five movies in your collection and throws up registration reminders. If this app is all it’s
cracked up to be, it’s going to be well worth the $29.95 shareware fee.

Do we get DVD ripping? iTunes would be a lot less worthwhile without CD ripping.

horrible software,
good idea but terrible execution.
i like the fact that it organizes your movies and lets you play directly from the app, but it doesnt support ripped dvds
(video_ts)
thats 90% of my movies.
also very buggy and slow.
they copied itunes interface ,
but not apples innovative features.
nice try though
for a much nicer looking app that organizes movies,
try delicious monster.
though it doesnt play the movies
(argh)
its is a much more graphically pleasing app,
as well as better built and more original

motech, i agree it sucks it won't play back DVD folders. i don't understand your comparison to delicious library by delicious monster software though. i own delicous library but something to play back videos is a completly different "monster" alltogeher.

Plus, for NetFlix integration it appears only to show you information about NetFlix based on RSS feeds. The info's nice, but if you still have to go somewhere else to manage the queue (i.e. a web browser), might as well read the feeds, etc., there in the first place. I'll stick with Sage for that.

Whoops! I just went to Helixent's site and iFlicks has been taken down. They're being very tight-lipped about it so I'm guessing they're being sued or something. here's the notice:
