iPod shuffle is Time’s Gadget of the Week
Time.com
has named the iPod shuffle their ‘Gadget of
the Week,’ with all the duties and benefits that the position grants upon its winner.
Who didn’t see this coming? While some may have their doubts
about the Mac mini there is no doubt that Apple will sell about a jazillion of these things in no time flat and that is
despite the fact that, as Time points out, the iPod shuffle isn’t all that ground breaking.
There are hundreds of flash based MP3 players on the market, but none of them are getting the coverage that the iPod
shuffle is. Is it because of Apple’s dominance of the electronic music scene? Is it because all anyone really wants is
a little white thingy that doesn’t break the bank?
The one thing I know for sure is that I want one, and I already have an iPod that I love. I’m curious to see how many
current iPod owners are thinking of getting an iPod shuffle in addition to their hard drive based iPods. If you are,
leave a comment and tell us why.

I am getting one because my 3G iPod is almost dead and I dont have the money for a new multiGB iPod. Plus this is how I usually listened to my music anyway. As soon as I get it my old iPod will have plenty of room for old files that I dont use anymore.

I'm going to get one because i'm constantly afraid I'm going to lose or break my regular ipod. This solid state and cheaper ipod means I have more peace of mind.

I've got a 2G iPod that's hanging in there just fine, but I couldn't resist the notion of a smaller, lighter, "disposable" iPod shuffle to enjoy during the commute. And the autofill feature intrigues me...

I own and have filled a 40 gig iPod w/ click wheel. I am considering buying a shuffle mainly because as much as I love my iPod its a little too bulky to carry around every day. Also most of the music that I need to be in a certain type of mood to listen to. So carrying all of it around seems a little pointless. So a shuffle would allow me to put my favorite songs onto a device that is small, light, and is awsome looking. And with the convienent switch on the back I won't have to choose between my favorites anymore.

I have a mini, but I want this for college so that I don't worry about breaking something that cost me 180 and seems so...fragile!

I quite fancy one for use as a USB flash drive, as well as music player. I like the combination, and the fact that it's so, so small.

I bought a 5 gig 1G iPod back in spring of 2002, which recently died due to liquid spilled on it. No money to get another HD based iPod, so I ordered the iPod shuffle. Disassembled the old iPod, wiped liquid off, re-assembled, it works again. Soon Ill be having *two* iPods cool!

I want one. I have an iPod 20 GB. Why do I want one? I have no usb memory stick at the moment. And I think the iPod shuffle is ideal for sports. Jogging with hard disks always sounds creepy, especially because my 1G iPod did sometimes loose his song on the way and crash...

I'm definitely going to get one for my 8 year old daughter. I don't really want to buy her an iPod mini or iPod which, at $250+, is a big responsibility for a young girl. At $99, no problem!

I want one because I need to upgrade by usb stick. I've currently got a http://www.swisbit.com but the 128mb memory is not quite enough and as it has a knife on it I can't have it on me all the time. The shuffle will be a great addition and being dedicate a portion of the drive to music will a good feature.
Sure I could get a Sandisk or a rival flash based mp3 player but I want a white apple one goddamit!

Yeah I want one too!!! I do have an iPod photo and had the 1G iPod. But this new iPod isn't just an iPod it's also a usb stick, which I've always wanted, but never bought, because they were dull... this one has an interesting touch... and come on, it is from Apple...

I have both a 4G iPod and an iPod Shuffle; while I use the 20GB model to hold my entire music collection, I am too wary about bringing a hard drive-based player out jogging... the iPod Shuffle is perfect for me because it is light and works uniformly with iTunes. I don't need an LCD screen or a voice recorder as I don't intend on staring at a screen while out jogging. It's the perfect baby companion to the bigger iPod models.

I'm getting one so I can wrap it in something waterproof and take it out kite-surfing with me. No way I'd risk my 4g iPod in that kind of endeavour, but a little Shuffle I can tuck into my wetsuit. Now all I need is waterproof earphones!
