Apple Gives Students $100 (back)

apple studentsIf you are a student and you buy "and take possession" of a "qualifying" new Mac any time between May 2, 2005, and June 25, 2005 then make sure you fill this out to get a rebate form sent to you so you can receive $100 back. The offer excludes the "12-inch iBook with CD-ROM drive, eMac, Mac mini, and Apple education promotional bundles."

Check out the promotional spin on it: "College is all about studying, right? A Mac does everything you expect a computer to do and more. Every Mac runs Microsoft Office, connects to any network, and works seamlessly with Windows PCs. It also comes with groundbreaking software called iLife '05, which lets you do amazing things with your digital photos, movies, and music. So studying is suddenly much more fun." I don't know if I would have started my pitch of studying being fun with Microsoft Office, but whatever. Also, why this promotion now?  Isn't it summer?

I just bought my Dual 2.0 with my Student Discount last Saturday... I printed out this form a week or so ago and forgot all about it. Now I can go and grab an extra $100!

I think they're trying to clear inventory.

This is a really great deal. It lowers the price of a new 17" iMac to $1099! That's a screamingly good deal for that machine. The question is whether that or the superdrive 17 at$ 1299 is a better deal?

I bought my current mac at the end of one summer, so I think now is the time to get students thinking about saving up their pennies.

it'd be safe to assume that no updates to the mac line during this promo.

they are probably trying to catch all those out of school or the ones who need a new one over the summer who have waited to buy a new one till after school ended so they could have the time to set it all up over the summer

It's a hundred bucks on top of the educational discount. It may seem to some to be doing such a promo at this time, but summer is a good time to get in touch with incoming freshmen and outgoing seniors.

I agree with random, many parents buy laptops as graduation gifts. If the kids hide the rebate from their parents they can get a new laptop AND $100 for graduation :-)

Hopefully this isn't a replacement for the Cram and Jam, I was hoping to sell my ibook and ipod and pick up new ones.
