Panic releases Stattoo 1.2

stattooStattoo is the application by the great Panic software that puts informative, little "tattoos" on your screen, including a clock, iCal events, disk usage information, local weather and more. Version 1.2 fully supports Tiger, and includes an update to the audio module, which now properly displays internet radio tags from iTunes; added a preference to launch Stattoo on login; added Japanese localization and what Panic is calling "loads of bug fixes."

I know what you're thinking, this looks a lot like that other application I'm thinking of...or that other one.  Well, yeah. Can't we all just get along?

I've had my eye on this program for some time now. The one feature I really want hasn't been implemented. I would love to have it always sit on top of everything and be slightly transparent.

Stattoo is really not the same as Dashboard or Konfabulator where widgets are interactive. This program just displays information. If you want more customization, and are willing to trade time for price, try GeekTool. In principle, it could be made to do everything that Stattoo can do, if you know how to get the information through the command line.

I like stattoo, even more than konfab and perhaps more than dashboard (i don't have tiger yet). But i do wish it offered a bit more customisation. I'd like to at least be able to move the things around the screen independently of one another.. (not just up and down)

Stattoo is indispensable for me, because it really does tattoo itself onto your desktop. You can't click on it at ALL, and that's why it's great! It's always just there for you to look at for time, weather, mail, etc. Plus you can make it super transparent to make sure it's not distracting.
