TuneTalk for iPod
Before you scroll on by, sighing, "Not another voice recorder for the iPod!" I'd like you to take one minute to look at the picture accompanying this post and take good note of both a.) How completely horrifying it would be to have an iPod with this apparatus attached to the top of it shoved in your face during an interview with your fans, and b.) How unanimously this device would win the "Most Phallic iPod Accessory Award," if such an award were ever to materialize in our dimension.I mean, whoa.
The Belkin device will run $29.95 and is compatible with the 3G, 4G, and photo iPod. It features a High-Quality Omnidirectional Microphone with optional fuzzy cap (pictured with this post).

It does look a bit weird, but there might be a practical reason for having the microphone a bit farther away from the recording device; noise. I have a Sharp Minidisc recorder with a mic that plugs in and sits very close to the minidisc recorder. After a few minutes of recording, the mindisc needs to write it's cache to the disc, so the disc spins up, and of course, the disc noise gets picked up by the microphone. The iPod is not as noisy as a minidisc recorder, but the hard drive does make some 'clunking' noises which would probably get picked up by a mic that is located right against the ipod.

This reminds me of one of my accessory ideas for the iPod, the iBrator (say it out loud, you'll get it). It would spilt the audio signal into another headphone jack so you could still listen to the tunes, but also send the signal through a vibrating aparatus (sp?). Just think of it as one more level for our girlfriends to enjoy John Mayer...or System of a Down...depending on what kinda gal she is...or he, I suppose.

So would you be able to pull the audio OFF of the ipod or just record and listen on the pod?
