Indies get a bigger slice of Apple pie
You should sleep better tonight knowing that the proceeds from the next Indie track you buy from the iTunes Music Store will help feed a starving artist. Digital Music News says that Apple has raised its wholesale payout on iTunes Music Store downloads to seventy cents per song, bridging the gap a bit more between independent and major labels. This should be heralded as great news for independent artists and will hopefully attract more of them to the iTMS.

That is fantastic news considering if you go to the store and buy a CD, the band usually only receives $.50 to $1.00. But I must admit, I still prefer CDs or vinyl over the MP3s, AACs, OGG, whatever.

I also believe this is fantastic. Even though I will still purchase CDs over downloading music, it really makes room for the indie labels to re-release out of print stuff and actually make some money if they so wish.
I too used to be really into vinyl and CDs, but to be honest, I haven't been this happy with my music in a long time. iTunes makes it fun to organize, add artwork and make playlists in iTunes, I can't even think about going back to the way it was. I have over 2,000 records, but I'm slowly getting rid of them because they just take up too much room.
Now if only someone will create an "iPod" for books. I'm not talking audio books, I want to store a bunch of books onto a card, then slide it in to an LCD book so that I only have one book on my shelf, but I get the satisfaction of owning thousands of books. Only then will I truly have the minimalist apartment!
