Optical mouse, 4GB iPod mini gone for good?
It's almost time for Mac Expo Paris, and you know what that means: The rumors are flying. To add to the fray, Apple Insider reports today that the Paris Expo may mean the end of the 4GB iPod mini and the optical Apple Pro Mouse. According to the article, Apple has canceled individual
backorders for the Pro Mouse, and removed it from the online Apple Store. Additionally, some resellers seem to be having difficulty in restocking the 4GB iPod mini (making way for flash-based iPod minis?).What bold predictions! No more low-end mouse and no more low-end iPod. Is it just me, or do the rumor sites seem to be much quieter than they were, say, before the Think Secret incident? I don't know if they're just more timid lately or if former sources have actually run dry. Either way, I like the silence. That way, Steve's "one more thing" is still a surprise.

What a coincidence! Just had Apple on the phone yesterday, and they told me the 4Gb iPod Mini's were being dropped soon!

The 4gb iPod Mini is being given away with an educational Mac purchase, a clear sign they're blowing out remaining stock of it ASAP. As for the Pro Mouse, the appearance of the Mighty Mouse makes it a tad redundant.

The Pro mouse is gone.:

all there is in "offical" apple mice is the Mighty Mouse, and the Wireless Mouse.
BTW, I went to the Apple store this past weekend in Twelve Oaks, and they only had one Mighty mouse out (hooked up) to an iMac G5 on the floor. It is very nice, but Apple has always been known for thier unique one button mouse. I guess you could go to an apple store and get a pro mouse while they last. hell, thier only $29. I may get one, just as a collectors item, because my most "recent" mac is an LC III. :) -digital ;)

So you think they'd rather bundle the new mice with existing Macs... rather than.. sell them?
I'd rather keep the Pro Mouse standard.. and go for the $50 mouse if you want.

Really, I am in love with my iPod mini. I cannot say otherwise. I didn't like the way the 'gold' mini was gone, though i'd never have bought it, but now they're all gone! Why? I know more people in my school who own a mini rather than an original iPod. Thought it was pretty succesful...
Actually I don't really feel the need of buying a Nano, it isn't for the photos (oh the thing is so small, so unique, so woah, but what's the point in making it possible to view photos when you have only a 1.5 inch tiny screen?) either the capacity (mini 4GB... 200, nano 2GB also 200?! 2GB!) or the battery life... (mini 18 hours... nano 14 hours?) I must say I'm really blown away. I really am.
If you feel the same way, please e-mail me. What were they thinking... *sigh*
