Widget Watch: Tigergotchi
Okay. As you all know, I hate the Dashboard, and I usually keep it turned off. Nevertheless, when I saw this widget, I was forced to reactivate my Dashboard, install it, and be amused. Why? Because I am a huge fan of the entirely useless technology-as-fake-pet phenomenon. What am I talking about? Tigergotchi. Take a Tiger and mix it with Tamagotchi and you have Tigergotchi. Feed your Tiger, give your Tiger water, and show attention to your Tiger and it will thrive. Why do this? Because if you don't, it will die.

I really like this kind of thing as well for some reason, however after downloading it I found that it ate up around 50% of my processor and on my powerbook that would give me about an hour of battery life. ASCIIPet however doesn't do this and can be downloaded from.
I hope that they can get the processor usage under control because it is a very cool application.

Thanks Dennis for pointing out this bug, somehow the standard apple code for the little white i that fades in and out conflicts with other code, leading to exorbitant cpu usage. We fixed the bug and now CPU usage is virtually nil...
Cheers,

Wow! The Tigergotchi people are really quick on the bug fixes! And they have a bug fixed version out! That is a 4 hour turn around on a bug, in the middle of the night folks! Amazingly above and beyond the call of duty. My hat is off to both of you mek&tosj.
And if you have not downloaded this "tigergotchi" yet, go now; and get the best "tigergotchi" ever.
