Phil Torrone at Make magazine has some photos showing which of his old iPod accessories do and don't work with the iPod nano. He found that the Apple iPod camera connector and Belkin photo adapter are out of commission with the iPod nano, and you can't charge or share the nano with the iPod shuffle. On the positive side, the trusty Macally speakers still work fine with the iPod nano.Use Spotlight as a reference tool. Type any word in the Spotlight box and one of the top entries will be a definition. Click on it, and it will bring up the dictionary application to check the word in either the dictionary, thesaurus, Apple database, or Wikipedia.

To me, the biggest problem is not which accessories work with the Nano, it's that the Nano does not connect via FireWire!!! I can't believe it! My Mac G4 has FireWire and USB 1, and I have to connect via USB. If you plug the Nano into the Mac with a FireWire to dock connector cable, the Nano displays a message stating you cannot connect via FireWire. Unbelievable.

How could you possibly use an iPod Shuffle to charge the nano? That's just silly.

There should be a fair amount of accessories that work, but wont look right because of the small form factor of the Nano. I can hear the accessory manufacturers running around now.
