Forty-TwoDVD-VXPlus now converts to iPod

5th generation iPodWell, now there's another program out there besides the ones I listed the other day to help you convert your videos and DVDs to a format compatible with the new iPods. RNSK, LLC. today released Forty-TwoDVD-VXPlus 2.5.6 an update to their AVI video transcoding system for OS X, now with a predefined profile for creating videos for the new iPod (to go along with the one they already had for the PSP). The software will set you back $14.99 (unless you crossgrade from iPSP) and allows you to convert DVD Folders and video files to iPod video and automatically add the video to your iTunes Library. I just upgraded and am transcoding the copy of last night's episode of Lost that I grabbed off of my ReplayTV. Looks like it will take about an hour.

i purchased the app and ripped a full movie on high quality and 2 pass straight from DVD and i must say the quality was terrible compared to the same version thru handbrake - so unless i'm doing some wrong - i still need to play more - the thing is - - 2 hours to find out its a crappy copy is getting old - just my .02

That is a pretty handy little application. If only there were more hours in the day to play with such goodies.

What a great little app! Before leaping to a purchase, I tested some encodes with both DVD source and DivX downloads of TV shows to AVC (H.264) w/ High quality and 2-pass selected. The results were excellent! I love how simple the UI is. This app warrants a purchase. Thanks C.K. for letting us know about it!

Hi! Those conversions are speedy, but they aren't the best VX+ can do. In Prefs, you can set High Quality and 2-Pass mode. It will take more time (about 2x) but the quality will be *much better* than whats coming from iTMS because the software can use higher bitrates for AVC. The next release will move those options right to the save dialog, so they are more handy and apparent. Thanks for giving our app a try!

Have you tried changing the description of the file in iTunes?

Wow it was ALOT faster. I just finished an episode of "The Office". QT Pro did it in just over 3 hours, and Forty-2 did it in 23 mins. That ebing said, it looks really good on the ipod (both are comparable), but it's not as clear in iTunes as the one that QT Pro did.

Can I get a program to convert these wonderful LowerMyBills.com ads to play on my iPod? I can't live without images of corn on the cob with state abbreviations pasted on it...
