iDupe
iTunes 'Remove Duplicate' feature is anemic to say the best. It compares song titles, artists and little else. This may not be too troubling, however if you happen to have a studio album by a group and some live tracks of the same songs you can forget about remove duplicates working.Enter the shareware iDupe (it'll set you back $8). It claims to dedupe your music collection intelligently by looking at more criteria than Apple's offering and allowing you to adjust certain settings.

Is there some reason the Find Duplicates command doesn't work on the iPod itself, only on the iTunes Library?

Yeah, I've noticed the Show Duplicates only works with the library too, which is extremely frustrating because I have to manually go through 400-odd artists to root out the duplicate songs. It's really really annoying. I wish they would adress that at some point. Does iDupe do ipods then?
