Rip CDs directly to your iPod with iLoad

iloadDetails are pretty slim on this one, but it still looks cool. The iLoad will let you rip CDs directly to your iPod, cutting out your computer as the middle man. According to the website, album and track data are transferred with your music. It will ship in a variety of colors and patterns, and will require (I assume) an iPod with dock connector.

No pricing, shipping or compatibility information was available, but you can sign up for their notification email list on the site.

If you look deeper into this company, and the person behind it (Sanford Schupper), I'm sure you will change you mind about it. He's a criminal. Don't take my word for it, Google him and see for yourself.

I've never understood all this "use your x WITHOUT a computer". I don't count that as a feature. Things are done much better with a computer, I don't want to view on a 1.5 inch printer screen before I print my photos, but on a 30 inch cinema display. Why would anyone want a direct to iPod thing when you're going to want your music in iTunes anyway?

to Penginkun and others, there's an alternative to CDDB (which might work out to be more accurate) which is acoustic fingerprinting. Download the mac version of ieatbrainz from http://musicbrainz.org/ . I use it to update the id3 info any time i get music with missing or incorrect id3 tags. Works pretty well

I saw this on another site, and it's my understanding that they were just patenting the idea for a product. This isn't coming out anytime soon. They're just waiting for someone to come along and make it so they can sue. Gotta love capitalism . . .

I haven't purchased a CD in quite some time, but I don't own a single CD that has meta info of any kind. They require a database such as CDDB to look up that information. And forget coverart.

It's my understanding that most (if not all) CDs have the information burned in them these days. For some reason Apple's software doesn't know how to read this info. I wish it did: I'd be thrilled if I could stop using the (too-frequently inaccurate) CDDB and rely on the built-in information.
