A smaller iPod shuffle coming?

shuffleAppleInsider is reporting that a smaller iPod shuffle may debut at January's Macworld Expo:

"'We are hearing of an even smaller form factor (smaller than a pack of gum) and the potential for the re-introduction of multiple colors,' said American Technology Research analyst Shaw Wu in a research note obtained by AppleInsider."

There's a point at which tech devices get too small, don't you agree? I can deal with a slightly thinner shuffle, but to make it shorter or narrower would just be annoying. The next thing you know, the iPod flea will be a reality. I think it's a very nice size and weight as it exists today. Of course, I'm not running a billion dollar tech company, so what do I know?

I say make it about the size of a regular-ass usb drive. what do i care? all i want is easy access to the controls and durability.

If they stay true to the Shuffle's premise, they could make it a lot smaller. The idea is, make it as small as possible with two limitations: be able to work the controls, and be able to hold plenty of songs (but not too many). Going over 1GB will never make sense for a shuffle, because of the limited access you have to the music. Making the shuffle just a tiny bit bigger and fitting a screen on it would make it a nano.

I would hope they'd get the size down to about the size of a SanDisk Cruizer Micro. I was disappointed with how big they were when they first came out, having assumed they'd be no bigger than my Cruizer Mini. Yup, something the size of the Micro would be great. However- I do keep loosing my Nano (it's so thin that it easily hides under stuff)

How small is too small? What is it going to be... like the size of a stick of gum now?

I think the shuffle could easily be shorter, imagine if the shuffle was the length of the ipod remote... I would hesistate to make it any thinner, for I would begin to worry about the likelyhood of it simply cracking in half.

I would love to see a small screen added to the shuffle, thinner would definitely be cool.
