great but the cables are going to look like crap sticking out of the top. Maybe a cover to hide the cables??

A better solution would be a "shelf" that the Mac mini could sit on, hide the cables and make USB and FireWire ports easily accessible on the front.

I agree with jomy ... put it on a shelf. But put it above one of the really neat Belkin 6 port expansion thinsg that add a USB and firewire to the front, and loads more to the back. The size match is perfect, the power lights align, and the cables are really short, so they dont get in the way. The Apple store sells 'em.
