iPod Battery Replacement

ipod battery replacementAs you may have noticed, I'm on a cracking open iPods kick.

Anyhoot, we've mentioned iPod battery replacement services like those offered by Sonnet and NewerTech, but it's always cool to see an end user cracking open an iPod and doing the job himself. Check out D'Arcy Norman's quick work of it over at his blog.

He even has a collection of photos of the journey. Pretty cool.

Hi, reading this post reminded me of a blog I came across earlier today talking about powerbook batteries. Basically the blog owner was looking for batteries for his powerbook when he came across some cool xrays of the 15" and 17" powerbooks. Heres a link, you just need to scroll down a few posts until you see the x-rays and clicking on them gives a high res version. In his post he gives credit to a French powerbook site but I couldnt find them there but Im lazy :) http://modrak.bloguje.cz/ Back on topic, I bought a replacement battery from newertech for my ipod 3G and replaced it myself, the "scariest" parts were opening the case without damaging it and the ribbon cable for the hard disk which is notoriously fragile, thankfully I managed it without too much hassle and now my 3G lasts around 15 hours. I emailed newertech btw and they mentioned to me that you need to let the battery have around 10 full discharge cycles to maximise the capacity. Andrew
