SynergyKM: GUI for the Synergy Project
This is great! I've been using the Synergy Project to share a keyboard and mouse between my two Macs at home for a few months. It wasn't overly difficult to install and the instructions were well-enough written, but I can definitely see where the command-line might scare off people who might otherwise use the software. A pair of developers have been working on a GUI wrapper for the Synergy Project and its installer. They're calling it SynergyKM.An alternative to Synergy Project which I've also tried is Teleport from Abyssoft.
Note: I've referred to the open source KM software in this post as "The Synergy Project" to avoid confusion with the excellent iTunes-controller software Wincent Colaiuta called Synergy.

I have been using Teleport for about a year now and, except for some minor quirks, it works great. I have a G5 at my desk and a Powerbook I bring to and from work. It is a beautiful thing and can even transfer the clipboard between the Macs. My biggest wish for it is to work on WinXP (the "other" computer in my office).

There is a project called SynergyOSX which I have used successfully on my PowerBook and my desktop PC. It's a GUI wrapper around the synergyc and synergys executables. Now that I have a (new) iMac G5, my (very old) PB has been relegated to "delivers presentations only" status, and I haven't used SynergyOSX in about a month.

I've used synergy in it's strictly command line flavour for several months, and recently when upgrading my iBook I came across SynergyKM. In my books its a big step in the right direction in terms of usability. I connect to my desktop PC and life is beautiful. This app is my biggest productivity tool, ahead of Quicksilver even.

Saw you post, thought "great, hope it works" cause when I tried my hand at Synergy via the command line I was stummped.
Within two minutes I had SynergyKM installed on the PB and the packages installed on my Ubuntu Breezy server. Only the PB was the Server and the Breezy the Client in Synergy's case.
Worked without a problem. I am really impressed. A big thank you to the developers!

I've been using SynergyKM for months now with great success. At work I've got an iMac and a Dell running XP and I find it simple to use both with my mouse and keyboard on my Mac.
Back when my PC was my main computer, I had it running the server side and used its keyboard and mouse. Now my iMac G5 is the server and the PC connects to it. No problems, except for an ocassional disconnect on the PC side.

I just want to say thanks for linking this software, I tried to use Synergy when it was terminal only but after several hours of frustration I gave up. I have a 2005FPW monitor that can take DVI and VGA at the same with with picture by picture picture in picture and so on modes.
With SynergyKM I can easily share my keyboard and mouse and you have saved me from buying a KVM Switch. Thanks TUAW!
