Fontographer updated for OS X
Picture it, it is 1996 and you need to create a font. You turn to your trusty Mac and fire up Fontographer 4.1.4.Fast forward 3 years, 5 years, or 8 years and Fontographer is still at 4.1.4 and worse yet, it isn't OS X native. Well, all of that has changed. Fontlab, which acquired Fontographer from Macromedia in May 2005, has just released Fontographer 4.7 for OS X. This is a major update in that it now works on OS X, but Fontlab promises that more features will be coming in future releases.
The full program will set you back $349.00, and there is a 30 day demo available. I fully expect someone out there to develop a super cool font for TUAW within 30 days.

Oh, thank you gods of mercy! I loved Fontographer but haven't been able to stand looking at it for several years.

Wow, that's even longer than ZTerm (1995 - 2002).

At last. I have been keeping an old laptop running OS 9 for when I need to work on my old version of Fontographer.

Whaaaat! I have to *PAY* for an upgrade?!? Sheesh. They didn't even increment the first version number! This is ridiculous. Why is it software vendors think they can add a couple features and force people to re-buy software they already own?!! When I buy software I expect it to last at least 15 years. This is highway robbery!
