fluxiom

fluxiomfluxiom isn't Mac specific, since it is a web application, but I have a feeling more than one TUAW reader will be interested in it. At first blush it looks like flickr, only in Web 2.0 green and gray, however that isn't the case. fluxiom is an asset management application, created with the creative professional in mind. it supports tags, RSS, over 100 file formats, and a bunch of other buzzword compliant concepts, but it look like it will be very useful.

fluxiom isn't available yet, but have a look at the preview movie (featuring Safari) and I think your interest will be piqued.

@Michael: Do you have any knowledge of this or is that just a guess? Spotlight seems slow as hell to me. It doesn't really seem like it would be appropriate to serving web search results in a hurry. I could be wrong, however. But this does look outstanding.

Any alternative to anything from Yahoo has got to be an improvement. No way I'm supporting them, after they caved to the Chinese government in September.

WOW! If anyone has any doubts that AJAX is going to change the web as we know it, they just need to take a look at fluxiom. Fluxiom was obviously influenced by Apple and iPhoto and it looks like they have done a nice job of creating a full featured web application out of it. I hope Apple is paying attention to these guys.

Actually, it IS Mac-specific. As far as I know, the back-end natively runs on Mac OS X Server and uses Spotlight to offer full-text search of .pdf's, .doc's etc.
