iPod Compatible Bed
New Zealand design firm Design Mobel has created the first iPod-compatible bed. Called "Pause", the bed comes with an iPod dock and speaker system. There are also some shelves which can accommodate alternative speaker systems like that from Bose. From the site:"In designing Pause we explored the notion of ‘rest’ (whether it be while awake or through sleep) and how we choose to create our own personal space to rest and relax in. In doing so, the conceptual design of Pause aimed to challenge the conventional definition of the bedroom environment.
The resulting design incorporates functionality that lets your mood guide the pace; quiet time or play time."
Dear Santa, I've been a really good boy...

OK, now that's just ridiculous.
Of course, I still want one...

it's not that ridiculous, and not that expensive to implement, for say, hotels! its perfect for a 4 star boutique-y hotel and perfect for travelers. after a tough day of business or travel, walk into your hotel room, drop your bags on the floor, set the alarm on your ipod, set the sleep timer, pop it into the bed dock, sweet.... no need to shell out expensive proprietary beds, thats just a gimmick ... on contract for a medium hotel say 200-1000 beds, $50 per bed tops. and a real nice advantage over other hotels and a great enticement for business travellers..........

The only problem is that if the iPod ever stops being popular (gasp!) the hotels would have to replace the beds.
Still, I like the idea of every hotel having a built-in stereo, already compatible with the traveler's music.

They should build a deluxe model with built-in vibrating massage. Remember those old-school massaging beds they still have at bedbug-infested rat traps like the Days Inn?
