Tiger vs. Vista part 2
Way back in August, Paul Thurrott wrote the first in a series of articles comparing the Windows Vista beta to OS X (10.4) and he has just posted the second part of the series. While I still have a problem with comparing a product in beta to a fully polished OS (though C.K. may disagree about the level of Tiger's polish) I must admit that if OS X continues to come out on top I can shelve those misgivings.Paul compares the two OS's security (OS X wins with Vista getting a nod for better data encryption), networking (OS X wins ), and power management (once again OS X come out ahead though Thurrot laments the lack of Safe Sleep for all Apple portables and I'm with him on that one).
Thanks, David.

safe sleep, safe schmeep. I would take my instant off / instant on 99% of the time to the occasional "need" for safe sleep any day. Safe sleep means it doesn't go to sleep right away. I can't pull out my Wireless G card until the computer's asleep, which now is pretty much instantly, but with safe sleep would be after writing the contents of 768MB of RAM to 5400 RPM disk. I think building good habits of saving files early and often is much more important.

November 29 2005 at 2:30 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThe potential market share of Windows Vista dwarfs that of any other operating system on the market today. That sends a powerful message: Windows Vista clearly is the best unreleased and unused operating system ever created.

You can't apply all folders to sort by kind, even the "hacks" in editing the Localize.strings didn't work.
