iPod update fixes "blinking" shuffles

softwareupdateIn a follow up on Damien's question, it looks like the iPod software update that came out today does in fact fix the orange-green flash of death that was plaguing so may iPod shuffles as of late. According to iLounge, this update seems to have finally gotten rid of that annoying problem. So, shuffle-toting TUAWers, what has your experience been? Is your iPod behaving itself now?

it can't be a low voltage problem, its the only device connected, tried it on about 5 different machines too, powerbooks, imacs, and powermacs. same problem that everyone else has and the update won't fix it because it won't mount.

i had a 1gb that did the flash of death about a week after i got it, apple replaced it, and then 2 months ago it went through the wash. so i bought another one and lost it 2 days later. im going to wait a little while before i go on to my 4th shuffle.

I had already had my shuffle replaced at the Apple Store and now the blinking problem has happened again. It won't charge, it won't mount... nada. I'll need to dig it out to see if this new update will fix it. I doubt it will since it won't be able to GET the fix since it doesn't mount in the first place.

We've had a 512Mb model for almost a year, no problems yet. Nut I've been wondering about the Shuffle batteries now that they've been out in the market for a while. Are they still holding up well for people? Chris http://amateureconblog.blogspot.com/

hey zetasmack, i guess your problem may be caused by insufficient voltage power of your usb port.. remove unnecessary usb devices /usb usb!! my shuffle 1GB faced the same problem with my old pc... but now it works perfectly with my mac, i.e. iBook 12"

When will there be an update for the nano? The line out through the dock connector is pretty buggy, especialy when connecting to the Alpine car interface adapter. it almost always needs a restart before any sound is outputed.

doesnt look like it worked for me. i have the standard problem. shuffle won't mount, shows up in system profiler, updater wont register the ipod as being present. this didnt solve a thing for me, i hope it worked for someone out there.
