More iTunes purchase issues
You may remember the issue Apple was having a week ago with the iTunes Music Store. For some odd reason, it was telling shoppers that albums could not be purchased because they were "...being modified." I ran into this myself, and there were a number of related posts on Apple's discussion boards. Tonight (it's 8:36PM EST as I write this) I'm having another issue. I get the error message pictured above when I try to purchase just about anything: "The iTunes Music Store is unable to process purchases at this time. Credit card processing is temporarily unavailable. You may continue to browse the store. Please try to make your purchase again later."
So far, it's shown up when I try to purchase a single, an album, a TV show and a music video. The "credit card" part is kind of odd, as I'm using Paypal. Also, I've recreated the error across two machines on two different networks with two different iTMS accounts. Am I alone in this?

Have you tried it with a credit card and not through PayPal? It could be that the PayPal system for iTunes is broken.

See, the thing that is confusing me the most is the thing about credit cards. On the iTunes customer support page, there is the following notice...
"Note: PayPal processing has been temporarily disabled. Please use a credit card or iTunes Music Card to make purchases on the iTunes Music Store. Sorry for the inconvenience."

ok so the 5G ipod just came out w/ video and lyrics capability...the videos work dandy and that's the biggest selling point but the faster they can add lyrics to all their songs on the iTMS the faster they can advertise this ....say around January sometime when everyone will have the new ipod and have nothing to do with it but download a few tunes
is there ne one else out there that is as excited about the lyrics feature as me?
...for me on a music player (with video) i'm more concerned about musical advances on a 2 in screen

I have been having the same exact problem and I have my ITMS account set up through paypal. I can't buy albums like the new John Mayer Trio but I was able to purchase a couple of episodes of Lost which is weird. So I would wonder if the comment above was true why could I purchase a tv show and not an album or song. Its going to lead me back to "borrowing" come on Apple we need to have this alternative.

It looks like it must be a PayPal issue. I've been having this problem for the last 4 days and I also use PayPal.

I had the same problem a few weeks back. I am in fact using a creditcard on the iTMS, but I had no issues using the card anywhere else. Worked fine with other online stores.
After I mailed Apple about it, they replied that I should check with the CC company. I never did and eventually the problem sorted itself out.

Heh.. I've experienced both of those problems before. The paypal one was awhile ago. I just went to credit card for a little while and then back to paypal.
But the problem where you can't purchase the album because it's being modified is happening right now. I contacted Apple support and they said they would fix it and that I could try again in a couple days.

Same problem here since last week. I'm also using a PayPal account. It eventually worked on Friday when I bought an episode of Lost, but it came back on Saturday as I tryed to buy an album.

Just went to check the problem, found the new INXS album (yay!!!!!) and bought it. NO problem at all and yes, I use Paypal. shrug.

no new thing. this has happened to me maybe a dozen times since ITMS opened. it's always resolved by the next day. frustrating yes, prohibitively inconvenient no.

I think I know what's happening. I d/l the new INXS album only to discover it has been edited so it has "clean lyrics." Man am I ticked!!! There was NO available option to buy the unedited version.
I turned 59 today and sure as hell don't need the Apple music police editing my music or my music choices.
Try and contact anyone at Apple to complain. Good luck.
I've had an Apple product on my desk for over 25 years now. I've been singing the praises of iTunes to everyone. I have an iPod shuffle and a Mini and WAS thinking of getting a Nano. But if this is what they're going to do to the music they can kiss my iTunes $$$'s goodbye.
