Change the Color of your Powerbook's Apple Logo
Jim Youkin shows us how to make the Apple logo in your Powerbook a different color. I'm surprised he did this with the Powerbook on (at least it looks like it in the photos); maybe it was for better lighting. While Jim chose the old rainbow-style Apple logo, I think I'd choose a nice blue so it glows the same blue as my Griffin PowerMate and LaCie HD power buttons.

I would be more interested in a way to remove the apple logo entirely, (match paint colors to the anodized aluminum and paint over & sand down)
or maybe polish a powerbook to a mirror shine...
or both.
very few people have the balls to marr their expensive 'books.
anyone got a albook that's currently beyond repair, and is willing to sell the chassis?

This guy did his logo around the same time I did mine. I've got some pictures and a full write up on my site: http://sterlinganderson.net/blog/2005/03/25/colorize-your-powerbook-apple/

Any way to do this for an iBook G4?

I did this a long while ago on my 12" with blue, and boy does it look spiffy. Two problems with the way this guy did it, however. A) It's best to remove that white plastic entirely so that you get the optimal bright glow in your colour of choice. B) The latches on the bottom of the 12" display actually hinge. As such, if you start at the top, loosening the corners (I did it with an old calling card) and move down, it will take less work.
An iBook is done much the same way, except you need to take the two torx screws out of the side. Just work around the bezel (between the grey and the white) with a credit card (Service Manual actually suggests a black stick) or something similar. I've also done it with a Pismo, but that just requires a few screws to be taken out.

If you make it blue, as a bonus all you'llneed to fill out your "glowing blue peripherals" bling is the Nokia 8800 (or 8801, depending where you are.)
:D

I prefer the original apple logo without mods :)
