Display lyrics on your iPod
It's true that iTunes now features that handy lyrics window, but how many of us actually have any lyrics in there? I don't, though it would be nice. I'd be even happier if I could synchronize those lyrics with my iPod, and view them while my songs were playing. iStar Composer makes that happen.Once you've used iStar Composer to enter your lyrics, they're added to your AAC files, so you can read along as your music plays. It works with both ripped music and iTunes purchases, spoken word files, your own Garageband projects and more. When playing your "enhanced" music in iTunes, the lyrics will display in the album art window.
iStar Composer requires Mac OS 10.4 or later, Quicktime 7.0.3 and Apple's Chapter Tool. A single license will cost you $30US.

were do you go on the ipod to view the lyrics (i have a ipod 5g)

In fact, that is a small part of the programs purpose. iStar Composer allows the synchronization of lyrics, lecture notes, podcast text, foreign language translation, and many more through a very easy to use interface. Once you have the text synced how you want it, you export the song to iTunes and sync it to your ipod. The lyrics will play synchronized full screen (best for iPod w/ video support). Check it out, I think you will enjoy it. Ben

December 07 2005 at 3:58 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replypearllyrics is tremendous - downloaded while you can. The real question for me is how do I get the lyrics form iTunes onto my 3g iPod (or for that matter any iPod before the nano)? I know you can use notes for this, but that is a pain on so many levels. I want to be able to access the lyrics directly form the Now Playing screen. Any ideas?

December 07 2005 at 7:40 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyUPDATE! As of dec 6th apple.com has taken down a lot of the lyric fetching widgets, appearently the record companies didn't much appreciate them because they send the author of pearlyrics a cease and decist letter. this is a shame because these widgets are awesome and extremely useful. link to developer's site: http://www.pearworks.com/pages/pearLyrics.html **maybe this should be its own post on the blog--pretty terrible news to me** ps. even though neither the apple nor developer's website has the widget available for download some other sites haven't been so quick to remove it--better snatch this up while you can! you can find the widget/app here: http://www.macupdate.com/info.php/id/18354 pps. widget is obviously compatible with tiger but there is also works as a regular app for older versions of osx.

December 07 2005 at 7:31 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down Replyis this post for reals? instead of paying $30 to manually enter lyrics for every song, i use the pearlyrics widget to automatically look up and save lyrics to whatever song is playing in my itunes. granted it isn't 100% but it is pretty good at what it does (it's only failed me with obscure indie bands and podcasts). even if i'd want to go the manaul route, i just 'ctrl+click' any song in itunes, select 'get info' and hit the lyrics tab to copy paste any text. both of these methods work fine to view lyrics on my brand new 5g ipod. thanks for the blog.
