Apple KB Article: How to clean your Mighty Mouse
Since the Mighty Mouse is now standard with all Macs that come bundled with a mouse, there are lots more people using them (even though they aren't Bluetooth, don't have 187 buttons, and aren't the single greatest thing since sliced bread). I don't know about you, but my Mighty Mouse can get a little dirty. If only there were some sort of online resource which would tell me how to clean this little marvel.Enter Apple Knowledgebase article number 302417. It exposes the secrets to getting a squeaky clean scroll button as well as letting you know that you need not ever feed or water your Mighty Mouse.
Give the article a read, the mouse you save could be your own.

Ok folks, heres what I do for mine. Take some isopropyl alcohol, head cleaner video head cleaner whatever. UNPLUG your mouse, really thats volts in there! drop two drops onto that squity wee ball, rotate furiously and hard upside down whatever, repeat, and again, then again. Leave it to DRY, REALLY, theres volts in there. I take no responsibility for fried mice ( mmm tasty ). Works for mine every time, only problem is the durn thing is now an alcoholic ;)
I've found that an isopropyl alcohol swab (like the kind they use when you're getting stuck with a needle) works wonders to dissolve the built up oil on the surface of the mouse as well as the ball, and evaporates without damaging anything. A small amount of 70% isopropyl rubbing alcohol on a soft cloth would do the same. Oh, and my chamois from RadTech (http://www.radtech.us) does good work, too.

Instead of using a lint-free cloth and water, as Apple recommends (which, according to their own instructions can damage your mouse if you overdo the water), I suggest using an antistatic cleaning wipe. They're inexpensive and they evaporate quickly, making them less likely to damage your Mighty Mouse.

I took a chance and got yet another Mighty Mouse. So far, it works great. When it gets dirty and the scroll wheel stops working, the best thing to do is put it upside down on your desk, and firmly roll the wheel in circles for a few seconds. Works every time for me! Fishes, narco.
