Home grown 8GB iPod mini

Jason Parry had the same issue, and not wanting to give up his durable and rather scratch-resistent mini, he took it apart, pulled out its hard drive and replaced it with a Seagate CompactFlash Photo Hard Drive.

Is the 8GB CF HD the biggest we can buy today? Seems like they are making bigger ones these days.

Dat Le: RTFA "Note the street price on these drives seems to be about $200-250."

I have a 4GB mini with a dead drive. You can hear the HD clicking in it from about 10 feet away, haha. I am going to consider doing this. Or I might just buy a replacement 4 GB drive. I have a new 5G pod, but a personally refurbed mini would be great for running and snowboarding.
