Apple Store down

How very odd, the Apple Store is down. We usually see this when Apple is introducing a new product but given the fact that Macworld is less than 2 weeks away, and it is a holiday weekend that seems unlikely.
It is probably just routine maintenance, or the new iPhone.
Thanks to everyone who sent this in.

Must be your fault then Josh. That big order got the site all excited and overloaded?? Oh well....yes we are always playing detective with apple because they want it that way...everything is top secret until announced.

I was shopping on it trying to get a big order in when pagest stopped loading and database errors appeared. I called my Apple rep and he was surprised the store was behaving badly. About 5 minutes after he said he'd contact the online store people, the site switched to say it was closed. For about 30 minutes before that the site was seriously ill. I had to use CDW to make my shopping list to submit it to my apple rep because the Apple store was down.
December 30 2005 at 3:14 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyBoo, hiss. Because of the holiday weekend it's likely this is the best time to roll out a code update to the store and still have a few hours to squash any showstoppers before all the developers take off for vacation.
At least it won't take them 4 days to get it back up like Weblogs, Inc. comments. Ever heard of staging servers, guys?
You guys are trying too hard.
