SiteFlex stand offers a simple solution for your iSight

Granted this isn't a new product, but if, like me, you've got a free-standing iSight camera and an older Cinema Display, it's indispensable. None of the mounts that come with the iSight fit the older Cinema Displays (the kind with rounded transparent frames). So it can be frustrating to position the camera where you want it.

Enter the SightFlex by MacMice. The SightFlex is basically a long Firewire cable inside a metal gooseneck tube. You just plug the SightFlex into the iSight, place the small base anywhere on your desk, and bend the flexible gooseneck so the camera is positioned where you want it. I was happy to find that the SightFlex is just the right height to hold the iSight behind my 23-inch Cinema Display so I can look directly into the camera while I'm working, and the five foot Firewire cable is long enough to reach the G5 under my desk. The only downside is that now I have no excuse for avoiding video chats on a bad hair day.

Have any of you tried the SightFlex? How do you like it?

I have one. It works, but the arm lacks stiffness and will oscillate if the surface it is placed on shakes, leading to seasickness-inducing video.

had one for a year and it's been sitting in a drawer for 11 months! the resistance of the bendiness (technical term) doesn't last so now mine won't hold the weight of the isight and sadly wilts whenever i try to use it. Close but no ceeegar!

Erm.. correct me if i'm wrong, but the iSight i bought came with mounts for the old transparent plastic cinema displays (the ADC models.). I mounted it on the back of my 17" display fine, and it's still working great now years later...

macmice used to sell a custom made set of mounts for the cinema display, old stylee. I have one that fits, without sticky pads and stuff - selling mine if anyone wants it!

I have one and agree it is great. They also make a base-less model that is great for laptops. Most of their stuff is available on macproonline.com (not affiliated, just found it the other day and was psyched to find all their discontinued products there). They had great designs, their stuff is hard to find now, some of it is being distributed by a japanese company.

I also own an iSight and a SightFlex, and agree that it makes a sweet webcam incredibly versatile. I can position the iSight wherever I want now! The range of motion is great. I too own one of the older Apple Studio Displays (15"), and can position the iSight properly using the SightFlex.

I also just tried out Delicious Library to scan barcodes with the iSight, and the SightFlex worked perfectly to allow me to position the camera looking straight downward, and hovering only about three inches off my desk. Couldn't have worked out better! This is an essential product for anyone with an iSight!
