Kottke writes a letter to Apple support
Jason Kottke has summed up many people's
thoughts with this very funny letter to Apple
support.I about fell out of my chair yesterday when Steve announced the new iMacs, since I just bought one of the last PowerPC models. 'But the iMac was recently refreshed,' I moaned, 'you were supposed to introduce a new Mac mini!'
Ahh well, the iMac G5 is still a great machine, but my Powerbook is getting a little long in the tooth. Where did I put that credit card?

If you have the blind faith to buy a machine 3 weeks before MacWorld, you deserve what you bought.
Especially Kottke... I know he knows better.

Kottke has no one to blame but himself, really. His day job is blogging, which means he spends the entire day surfing the net to remain on top of current events, including technical. Jobs said that Intel would be in 06. He should have waited. It is one thing for general public to bitch, but the intellegent tech geeks that we are and Kottke is a part of had plenty of advanced warning. I feel sympathy for him, I do. But he should have known better.

Cry me a river. Did he somehow *forget* that MacWorld was right around the corner? Nobody who has half a clue makes a major Apple purchase so close to MacWorld.
I've personally been holding off on buying an iPod just in case. He gets no sympathy on this one from me.

Somehow I doubt that the man actually bought a PowerBook three weeks ago.
Artistic license, people!

You took a bullet for the masses and guaranteed a refreshed iMac. Still, look at it this way; your recently-bought G5 iMac will last you quite well until the kinks are all worked out of the Intel-based iMac line.
And I think we've all been there. My company (as in, the company I own/run) bought a Cinema Display at its original full price three weeks to the day before they halved the cost. Now *that's* buyer's remorse.

What?! Has his internet connection, phone, ears, eyes (etc) been on the blink this last few months?

Ha, ha!
Tears are funny.
Likewise with geeks who should know better.
And especially for tears from geeks breaking their new toys.
That's three kinds of funny.

After some time saving up and deliberation, back in December i finally took the leap and purchased the Imac G5 20" with built in isight.
I only had my Imac G5 for one month and already it has been replaced by superior version comprising of a dual-core Intel powered chip. I am very happy with my Imac, but feel that when purchased I should have been advised by Apple staff of the upcoming release. If this was so, I would have waited one month until the release of the new Imac G5. Also the version of the Imac that I have '20" 2.1ghz', was only released on the 12th October, does this mean that this product is now obsolete after only 3 months on the market??
I imagine that there are many Apple users who purchased the Imac within the months of October to January, who now feel like they have missed out on something. Why did Apple upgrade the Imac back in October, only to upgrade it once again in December and also not to notify their cliental?
Do Apple now undervalue their customers and are simply on the gravy train??
