Don't be
sad, Damien, you can have your Mac media
center after all! The folks working on the open source iTheater media project
have promised that, come hell or high water, iTheater will be released on January 31,
which is a week from today. Last week, they announced that the current beta is a universal binary, which is good news for all of
you lucky enough to have Intel equipped Macs.My Powerbook and I are really looking forward to this release. See you in a week!

Geez Fritz...that's one hell of an ego you've got there. You know what? Whatever your mommy told you, the world does NOT revolve around you.

January 25 2006 at 10:35 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhy is it that nowhere on the site can I find anything that says what the hell iTheatre is?
I mean, what the hell is it??
The link listed points to a page that talks about the delay in releasing iTheatre. It even says something about "where's RC1?" What the hell is RC1?? The wiki link points to a blank page, and the FAQ at the forum only has info on using the forum and says nothing about iTheatre. Yeah, like I don't know how to use a forum.
I'll bet these guys are the type of developers that think an about box is where they put legal info. The about box, while I'm ranting, is where one is supposed to be able to go to find info on just what the app is, what it does and why my life would be better by using it. Instead developers put "written by this" and "copyright that." Totally useless waste of bits.
I'm sure these iTheatre people are nice people, but if you're gonna go to the trouble to get me to your site, make sure you have something for me to consume while I'm there. You get one try. I'm not coming back.
Whatever it is, I'm glad to see it's Universal. ;)

Hello,
I work on the iTheater Project and can tell you all that iTheater is NOT vapourware.
We've released 2 BETA's to our testers so far and as we have said we will be releasing iTheater RC1 at whatever stage it is come January 31st so no need to worry about that :)
One week people!
I'll check it out when (if) it arrives; in the meantime, I'm happy with MediaCentral

Why wait?

It most certainly is not! We've been working extremley hard to get this thing out the door. It just hasnt reaced a level of stability that we wanted until now. See you on the 31st!

Anyone else besides me suspicious that iTheater is vaporware?
