Rig of the Day: Great vintage collection

Check this out. Flickr user Henri has got a great set of vintage Apple products in his snapshot. Note the (blueberry?) iMac, the Powerbook, Newton Message Pad, the Apple PowerCD with remote (wow), eMate, Color Classic and a Twentieth Anniversary Mac. I must confess, I had never seen an Apple PowerCD before, and had to write to Henri for an explanation.

Oh my god that's true, 8 batteries. I remember they last for about one hour of audio playing :) When I still used mine it was in combination with the tall Apple Design Speakers, nice Apple setup that was. Now all but the iMac and PowerBook G3 (clipped on the right) are sold!

As #1 said indeed it is a portable cd player. I'm thinking I'm gonna have to break my Apple Pro Speakers out and the Apple CD player (which also supports photo cds) to compete with these pics.

The remote for the Apple CD is quite complicated actually, nothing like their latest remote. Its got a whole section of buttons dedicated to photo viewing, such as rotate right + left.

I've still got a working Apple PowerCD on my desk. Every once in a while I get it out for nostalgia's sake. It's still the only portable CD player I own :D You can load it up with AA batteries (it takes 8!) and carry it around. Just don't make any sudden moves - it has no skip protection.
