Silly Sunday Survey: Intel Macs, buy now or wait?

A new Silly Sunday Survey is way overdue, so dear readers, we have one for your edification. Are you going to be buying (or have you already bought) one of the first generation Intel Macs (i.e. the MacBook Pro or the Duo Core iMacs)?
I tend to avoid first revs of any Apple products, especially since I ordered a Cube seconds after Steve announced them and did the same thing for the Titanium Powerbooks, but that's just me. Sound off in the comments!

I am getting the first rev, mostly because this will be my first mac. I have had it with windows. I _was_ going to buy a Dell XPS, then I heard about this laptop. I started thinking about trying out a mac.
Needless to say, since then I have actually had a chance to play around with a mac for 2 days and fell in love with it.
I totally can't wait for it, 19 more days until I get mine. I ordered late, so I have a ship date of Feb 24th.

Fist let me appologise for my spelling and typing. What I ment to say was that I will wait until the 1st of April (being Apple;s 30th), then I can decide weather to wait a bit more or to go for it. Once decided Ill got for a 20" iMac Duo. Sorry for any confusion.

I'll wait, mainly since I don't actually *have* any money at the moment, thanks to the 360 (love/hate...). I'll probably get a MacBook Pro v 3 or whatever is out in a couple of years, before I go to uni.

My G5 iMac is only 3 months old, I will not be buying a new computer for a few years. A notebook computer might be my next purchase, but only after a couple of years for Apple to get it's Intel act together.

I prefer waiting. I'm planning on waiting until the summer and then upgrading. I just want to see if anything bigger and better is coming.

I'd been waiting sence November to upgrade my 12" Powerbook G4, so the minute you could pre-order the Macbook Pro I placed an order. I'm excited to try the first consumer intel mac. It should be a huge step up from my 1.33ghz days. If there are major flaws that are fixed in the next version of the Macbooks, I'll just unload this one on ebay. Most likely the new versions will be slightly cheaper than the current model, but if not I'll find a way to make up the price difference. Dispite the community's caution regarding the new MacBooks, I expect to have my new notebook for a long time.

Already ordered... upgrading from a iMac TFT 800MHz, and a TiBook 867 MHz... ideal time for a new portable, carries what I value the most, don't really care for other's PRO needs.

I'm holding off. However, this is perfect time for me. I plan to buy a MacBook Pro (or tablet if they have them by then) in the summer of 07 before I go off to college. That will be prime time. They should have stable Intel machines out by then, and the majority of the apps will be universal. I'm excited.

Wait. I am guessing Apple will release Revision 2 in a couple of months. Like BJ said, there could be a tablet and it will be a lot more stable.

I already ordered a MacBook Pro, the model with 1,67GHz Intel Core Duo with 1 GB of RAM... it is going to be my first mac, let's see if I buy more after this one...

it's really nice. all of its alleged flaws wont exist with hardware upgrades/accessories and MOST people dont use these "missing" technologies. im getting one!!! if i got a second-generation, id feel obligated to keep buying the newest models. theyre kind of disposable. but not the FIRST-generation!!

I ordered my Macbook the same hour it was announced. My current machine was a Jan. 2005 15" Powerbook G4. Since Macworld I've grown a bit concerned about the nascent form of the Macbook at the show and the rumors I have heard that they were just prototypes and that the production models shipped in February will be very early builds. I'm also a bit bummed about the lack of FW 800 support and dual layer DVDs. So I listed my "old" Powerbook on eBay and, only days after ordering the Macbook Pro, also ordered the last build of the Powerbook 1.67 that came out in fall 2005. I'll see how everything works out with the Macbook and if it lives up to expectations I'll flip the "new" Powerbook when the time is right.

I am waiting. Lately, I have taken stock of jumping in usually with less than satisfactory results. Currently, my 17'' PB is only 18 months old.
I will wait until my current three year protection plan runs out and then consider what is being offered. The Intel switch is huge, needless to say. It will take some time to work out all of the issues with chip and software. I may end up switching to the new OS before I purchase another notebook. Again, I will not upgrade OS until version 10.5.3 or 10.5.4.
The challenge is going to be if I can hold out that long. Considering grad school does not pay it should be easier than if I were making the 'Big $$$' working for TUAW.
'til then

Snaggy, I loved both my TiBook and my Cube, but they both had 'quirks' that were ironed out in later iterations (and the Cube got much cheaper), so if I knew then what I know now and so on ;)
