Setting the record straight about Smart Folders
I don't
use Mail.app as it just doesn't fit into my workflow. However, if I did use Mail I would most certainly take advantage
of the 'Smart Folders' feature to make my life a little easier. Mac Geekery taken it upon themselves to clear up some misconceptions about Smart Folders
(focusing mostly on the fact that they aren't really folders at all) and make us all aware of what is really going on
under the hood.Worth a look if you have ever wondered about how smart those Smart Folders truly are.

Yikes! You are right about the grammar on that post... I cleaned it up.
The lesson we have learned? Never post before 7am.

I switched to Thunderbrid just to get smart folders (saved searched) in 10.3.9. Great invention.

calling saved searchs "folders" is misleading and confusing... it's hard to explain to a newbie why they can't delete a picture from a "smart folder" (it's simply not there, because it's not a folder) or why the picture disappeared from there, but it's not deleted (the picture don't match the specification of the "smart folder" anymore).
i ranted about it a while ago, offering new names: http://blog.nonlinearmatters.com/mac/saved-search-fiasco/
