Futurama "Windows 3000" joke

It's no secret that Matt Groening is an Apple fan, as plenty of references and jokes have made their way into episodes of his Simpsons and Futurama shows. While watching my favorite segment of TV last night - [adult swim] - I thought a Futurama episode (titled "Bendin' in the Wind") cracked a nice knee-slap of a joke on Windows. Sure, the episode might have originally aired way back in 2001, but this is the first time I've ever caught the joke - sue me.

A clown robot visits a mangled, hospitalized Bender and tries telling a few jokes to cheer him up. One is: "Did you hear why they're using Windows 3000 as a prison guard? Because it always locks up!" Cute.

I wonder when Futurama will work this into an episode?

I have to admit I didn't get the joke at first myself. Of course, it may be the fact that I've had four WinXP machines around for the past 5 years, and none of them have ever locked up...

Actually, that isn't the funniest Windows joke from Futurama. The funniest happened on an episode where they were on Mars looking for rustlers. Bender was telling horror stories around the campfire. It went something like this:

BENDER: But the computer screen was still on. And in the dark you could make out... the Windows logo...

FRY: That's not scary

BENDER: It is if you're a laser printer

Well, see the problem here is that the TUAW people didn't clear the post with lakiolen first. It's a little known rule that all TUAW posts must be relevant to lakiolen or they're pointless. After all, lakiolen is the bellweather for relevancy in the Mac community. If it's not enjoyable and relevant to him, then it's not enjoyable or relevant to anyone. C'mon, ya noobs, don't you know this already?

I'm not pissed off nor did I say there was anything wrong with Futurama. I was commenting about the relevancy of this post.

It must be a slow news day or something.
Is there any other reason why this would be posted?
