Safari Compatibility Hit List
This is a clever way to focus the efforts of developers on squashing bugs that really matter (i.e. the ones that impact our daily lives) and to that I say bravo!
At the moment the list includes:
- Delta.com
- Start.com
- Bananarepublic.com

Over on Surfin' Safari the Safari Compatibility Hit List has been announced. What the heck is that? Well, it is just what it sounds like: a...

Just don't expect to comment at their blog: if you aren't adulating their egos or is a friend of them they will not post your comment. Want an example? Look what I wrote about their new blog layout:
The older design was way much better. It made Surfin Safari looks different, was easier on dial-up connections (as sadly Im stuck now) and the color palette had a closer resemblance to the main product derived from WebKit: Safari. Also the content scrolling was hot, something that we dont find much at the internet.
Now although looks ok, its much like the same as any other blog from 16 year old teen at the cyberspace, a green that has no identity w/Safari and a heavier site on my browser to load (making me pay more money to see whats inside).
But well it looks like that think different doesnt apply to open source blogs.
You may not like nor agree w/my opinion, but it's what I think and I wasn't offending nobody. Why not post it?
Happily here at TUAW there isn't such stupidity.
Wellsfargo works just fine, Bananarepublic and oldnavy (gap included) have problems because they don't support standards -- though they've stopped blocking current safari users, they are blocking dated ones still. Wellsfargo's blocking of older apps is a security concern, understandable - the others are only because their talent isn't that talented.
As an FYI, there's bugs in even this site in Safari -- practice what you preach guys:)
I can't seem to make videos work on CBS news' website via Safari. You can choose between Real or wmv format, but I wasn't able to get either to work.
And yes, I have the latest RealPlayer, and Flip4Mac installed.
However, I was able to access vid content by FireFox with no problem.
@ s'fen:
The pages further on in bananarepublic.com don't work.
@ all the others:
Please file bugs @ http://bugzilla.opendarwin.org?product=WebKit for things that are broken, we (the WebKit team) WILL fix them :).
"The new comment system on Digg.com, although very cool, freezes WebKit every time. SBOD then force quit."
i think something else is wrong. i haven't had a problem and Kevin using Safari, i don't think he would allow it to be released if it didn't work with his own browser of choice. the video he made to preview the system even was running in Safari
>But this is why I use Camino.
Camino (and Mozilla, by way of Gecko) isn't perfect either. And Internet Explorer is 5 days travel, 3 trains, 4 connecting flights and a burro ride away from being perfect, it's just that its type of not being perfect is more popular.
Don't post problem sites HERE, send them to the Safari team where they might do some good! Who knows, they might be on the hit list next week.
Two of the top ten are Microsoft ones (*.live.com, *.start.com).
a) are we surprised?
b) do we really care?
Delta.com works fine for me and Bananarepublic.com works just fine, I even went as far as going through the checkout process to test it and I did not have a single problem.
The Old Navy and GAP sites used to be incompatible, but I was surprised today when I went to test them, they loaded no problem.
The new yahoo e-mail beta doesn't work either. On Safari it just says not supported at all. On Camino, it works after spashing a huge warning that it may not work.
