Rig of the Day: Apple //c

TUAW reader and Flickr user superpixel* has posted this great shot of an Apple//c, complete with one of those tiny, green-on-black monitors. I used to have one of these displays, but not the computer to go with it.
"Apple 2c" posted by superpixel.
For the month of April, the theme for our Rig of the Day will be "Vintage Macs" in honor of Apple's anniversary. If you'd like to see your own rig featured here, simply upload photos into our group Flickr pool. Let's see your vintage Macs (Apples and Newtons, too)! We'll select an image every day to highlight.
*The so-called "superpixel" is actually TUAW's own Victor Agreda, Jr.

I have a warm spot for the Apple//c, too. I did all my college entrance essays on one, even thought I had plenty of Macs available to me. I liked the feel of the keyboard, plus I liked the look of it.

Hmmm. I learn something new everyday! Not at school, but at TUAW. I wonder is some day I can major in macintosh history studies. That would be cool.

I almost got one of those from the local Freecycle group, 'cept my roommate was still mad about the IIgs I got off of Craigslist a couple of weeks before. I had to hold off.

I had an Apple //c in the mid-80s, it was a great computer at the time. I have an iMac G5 now.
It was also the first computer I had to have modem, running at the blisteringly fast speed of 1200 Baud. There was no internet available to the general public back then, instead we dialled into privately run bulletin boards or Compuserve, which was known as CI$ because it was so expensive!
Sorry to get so nostalgic, but seeing that old computer brought back lots of memories.

Ahh remember it well. Had the same exacat set up. Now you just need to add and Apple Scrbie thermal printer and you'll be set.
I'll always rember my friends PIMP rig from back then.
Apple //e, Duo Disk, Green Screen, and the pirates firend, The AppleCat 1200Baud modem. Oh my gosh the tricks you could do with that thing.

The //c had the best keyboard I've ever used.

Of course it dual boots - 40 or 80 columns!

turtlejp, we still have the thermal printer for it too! unfortunately, Staples quit selling the carts for it ;)
To this day the //c is still my favorite "old school" Apple, because of the portability. I only wish I had the LCD screen for it...
The lack of yellowing is a nice thing too, and we even have the vinyl dustcover for the whole rig. Like a museum, that basement!
