More laser etched Powerbooks

Philip Torrone is at it again. 3 more Powerbooks have received the laser etching treatment (read about the first one he did, or get yours done by ETCHamac). This time the Powerbooks get a NeXT logo, a bunny in a tsunami, and some tasteful blossom branches.
I really want to get this done to my Powerbook, since new tops only cost $35 (for the 15 inchers). Would you do this to your precious Powerbook?

Not necessarily a tsunami; it appears to be an interpretation of a Hokusai painting.

My school tech lab has one of those machines. I should talk to my tech ed teacher and see if he would do it for me. I already know what I want too.

i'd do it, if it didn't mean being without my PB for an extended period of time (anything more than like 14 hours)

That's way cool! I'd totally do it, as long as I didn't have to part with my precious PowerBook for too long.

I'm considering doing this. To the point that I've found an artist to commission to do the work, and I'm waiting for my cash to come back up after getting a new macbook. I've got subject matter chosen (which will be my warcraft characters, yes, I'm one of "those people") and I'll be doing the "order a new lid" option, so I don't have to be without my PB.

Credit where credit is due - this is either Kozyndan artwork or heavily inspired by it. See http://www.kozyndan.com/assets/March_illus/GR_28_cover.jpg

not to be too critical, but like what #1 said, that is most def an interpretation of Hokusai's painting - in fact, it is one of the most famous paintings in his Mt. Fuji collection. It is quite degrading, from this aspect, to call it a bunny in a tsunami...

I can't believe you guys find this cool. It ruins the Mac's simple, industrial beauty. And who would buy your old MacBook Pro with an ugly tattoo on it? If you must deface your notebook, etch your name on the bottom in case it gets stolen.

Isn't that a painting called "The Big Wave"?

would that have any affect on the warranty?

I think it's a neat idea. I'm sure people will have lots of creative ideas for designs & patterns especially if the etching is deep enough to accept a color wash.
Maybe someone can come up with a 'Kilroy was here" style image of Steve Jobs peering over the top.

Yes, it would be degrading calling it a a bunny in a tsunami, but if you look closely at the image, it's actually a bunny infused tsunamithe waves are literally little bunnies.

so, wait, where do you get replacement tops for your powerbook? My 12 incher is dented and getting scuffed up, I'd like a new shiny top.

I don't think this ruins the Mac's simplistic elegant design.
I think this is probably the most tasteful and elegant way anyone could accessorize the look of their PB or MBP.
That being said: When I actually GET a MBP after the summer, I'd love to have this done.

Marre, its' called "The Great Wave" by Hokusai. More accurately that's a "The Great Wave" inspired piece of art with bunnies instead of water (and lacking the boats).

I would do this in an instant. I know that a fair number of architecture schools have these in their labs, and wouldn't be too surprised if even schools that lacked arch. schools had these. I may have to check this out for my self. I just can't imagine having to ship my PB in order to get this done. That seems like a lot to ask, even if it is only $35 (which sounds really low for this kind of thing). I don't know what I'd get on mine, but I know that it'd be elegant. I don't need any WoW guys on mine (sorry #6), but probably something like the Burj al Arab or another really iconic piece of architecture. There are so many ideas goin' through my head right now that I couldn't possibly pin it to one. Probably some sort of super city's skyline that has all these really important buildings from throughout history in it. (Oh, and if you couldn't tell by now, I'm an arch. student.)

This clarify for all the folks trying to figure the painting. It's by a husband and wife illustration duo named Kozyndan. It's a remix of the great wave painting with bunnies. They do a lot of cool stuff. I use some their custom CD-Rs for mix CDs for my friends.
