Sims 2 goes Universal, Apple posts University trailer

These must've slipped past our radar, but last week Aspyr Media gave Universal Binary powers to The Sims 2. A patch has been released that will update any previous version to 1.0 Rev D. Along with UB support in this patch is also a list of fixes that I found over at Inside Mac Games, like zooming with the Mighty Mouse scroll ball and fixing a crash when running the game on 10.4 with some NVIDIA video cards. You can grab the update at Macgamefiles.com.

Also on the Sims 2 topic is a trailer Apple posted for University, a new pack that brings the college years to your Sims characters complete with a college town, partying and the obligatory pranks. The Sims 2 University Expansion Pack can be had at the Apple Store.

Another heads up: My update is just hanging there, with the SBOD....I'm going to let it keep going, because some installers are like this....but it's been going for a while now. Might need to force quit it.

All I want is greater flexibility in what the Sims can do in this pack. Like, I want to re-create my dorm room, with my old roommate. I want to be able to watch people fornicate on the roommate's bed when he was out- as people did- within the limits of what can be done with Sims.

For this to work, the roommate would need to be completely oblivious that people do this all over his bed... so you should be able to view the roommate in the caf, sliding on the grass in the rain, etc.

Just a heads up for people.

This patch doesn't work with either of the Expansion Packs. (University or NightLife)

I was unaware of that at first and had several failed installations before I called Aspyr Tech Support and was informed of this.

So if your planning on using either Expansion Pack stay clear of this patch.
