TUAW poll results: Mac ads

We asked, and you answered. The results are pretty clear: The new "Get a Mac" ads are a hit. Here's how our very unscientific poll broke down:
- 39% said "Pretty funny"
- 38% said "They're fantastic!"
- 14% said "Cute, but won't sell Macs"
- 6% said "These are terrible" (you can't please everybody)
Personally, the network spot is my favorite.

I saw the iLife commercial for the first time last night during Real World. It was even better to watch it on tv with my friends (Windows Users). They were dumbfounded. I loved it!

I "conveted" to Apple a year ago, and am in love with Apple ever since! I am crazy about anything Apple, but thats not due to any personal bias, but simply the fact that Apple does make really, REALLY good products! However, this time I feel that Apple could have done a better job with these ads...Is it just me, or these ads are not ALL that?! Esp that "oh, that kind of better..." I really think they could have done a better job...

For one, they could have made the 'Mac' a totally hot babe.

Yeah, I saw two of them air during the NBA Playoffs Laker game here in LA last night. Pretty awesome.

#3: lol! I didn't even realize I was doing it! lol!! hehe! On a serious note though, #4 has a good opinion - the 'hot girl'! I felt there is quite a bit of wrongful info in the ads:
a) They claim that macs don't crash. Thats not true. I am VERY careful with what I download on my machine, but things still crash. I am fine with it, but Im not fine with the fact that they promoting a false notion
b) Windows does come with decent applications other than a "clock and calculator". They have the movie maker, windows media player, and some games too. Granted they aren't as well thought out as the stuff Apple makes, but you shouldn't launch attacks where you KNOW you can be rebutted easily! I strongly feel that Apple has waayyyy better products, but this isn't the right way to market!
All-in-all, I really think Apple didn't do a good job here. This isn't the groundbreaking Apple work that I am in love with...I hope they can do something better in the next few months. All these ads have done is provide GREAT material for comedy on SNL! :)

I'm pretty partial to the "network" ad myself. I'm ESPECIALLY partial to "digital camera" Japanese babe.

#6, they are not saying that 'things' are not crashing. They are saying that OSX is not crashing and also that when some external software has a bug and crash it doesn't bring down the entire system with it.
This notion is also partialy untrue, i've already seen OSX crashing or having a kernel panic, but it's really less likely to happen than with Windows (and i can witness that, i use both as a software engineer). But it should be nothing new to *nix users...

The problem with these ads is the same as the problem with the switch ads. It just makes most people go "yeah, but..." There's examples of this right here in these comments. These ads will play well with people who are already Mac users and make slashdot crowd cry BS.
