iTunes Chili Peppers promo angers some fans
Ok, everyone just settle down. A couple of weeks ago, the iTunes Music Store offered a deal to fans of the Red Hot Chili Peppers: Pre-order the new album [iTunes link], and receive a special code that would grant you access to a special Ticketmaster pre-sale for the upcoming tour. The codes were scheduled to be distributed yesterday, May 9 (tickets go on sale to the general public on the 13th), but so far many customers haven't heard a peep from Apple. Call me an optimist, but I'm sure everything will be OK. I know it stinks on ice when it seems you aren't getting what you've been promised, but you've still got three days before John Q. Public can get his mitts on your tickets. Patience, grasshopper.
Of course, if the 13th comes and goes and leaves you ticket-less, then all bets are off.
Thanks, Adam.

well, i listened to there new album at a friends, and i am so glad i didnt buy it, the new album is nothing up to there previous standards. The first song is good, and thats it........ if this is what they are singing on tour then i would rather not go. Go back to the way you were chillis!

I'm well happy. Gets you lot back for always referring to the 'iTunes Music Store' as one homogeneous mass, not one with departments. The sooner you learn to, for instance, celebrate iTMS (USA)'s 3rd birthday (or however long it was), the sooner people will get RHCP tickets. This is clearly God's retribution. Long live Europe (and in particular, Scandinavia)!
RHCP; aspirations of mediocrity at best. People who haven't got their tickets should actually thank Apple.

no it's not ok. if a presale starts at a certain predefined time, everyone entitled to it should have the same opportunity to buy. the people who didn't receive the code lost that chance and others beat them to it. that means the ones who are late to the game may not get the seats they had been hoping for. thats not fair if they were promised to have the same chance as everyone else entitled to the presale.
and steve, you sound like you belong in a cult.

it has nothing to do with whether you like the rhcp it has to do with bad customer service. they screwed me royally.

Yes the promo should have worked correctly, but I find it very tiresome that someone actually believes that they were personally "screwed over". The whole world doesn't have to stop for you in order for others to be sympathetic to your situation. You're not going to believe this but the life will go on whether you get your tickets or not or if you see RHCP or not. My God, sometimes life ain't fair.

On the flip-side of this report, I got mine the nite before it was due to arrive (probably because I'm on the West coast).

Odd. I got my code without any issue at 2:27 am on Tuesday morning. I hopped onto Ticketmaster at 10 am and scooped up four seats. Went as expected for me.
The only annoyance I had was the first few times I tried getting 4 tickets, it said I was over the maximum I'm allowed. When i set it down to 2 tickets, it gave me floor seats. Back to 4 seats and it finally gave me tickets just into the stands. Other than that not being as clear about the ticket restrictions as was needed, went pretty smooth on my end.

well i got mine late in the day on tuesday (after complaining to apple) and i got zip. if a company promotes something they are responsible to live up to the promise. this isn't a lifes not fair issue, this is a sales issue. i would have bought individual songs or the actual cd if i wasn't being offered the tickets.

Buy the Album and here is why - RHCP and many other artists are experimenting with alternative distribution around Ticketmaster. The Internet has created competition for them like never before. Vote with your wallets -buy the album but dis-the-concert. Watch www.ticketrends.com to learn about the business side of ticketing - now that many states are dropping Ticket Scalping laws - Ticketmaster will be selling all tickets based on Auctions - so who get's screwed? First round, me and you the fan - then when we say - WTF????? and leave it will be RHCP, Ticketmaster and the rest of m scratching their bald heads wondering where everyone went......
Once enough people boycott the 40% fee over the ticket cost - what would you say to your bank if they charged you $40 for every $100 you withdrew?
