iSale 3.1 adds eBay interactivity, prepares for upcoming site changes

iSale, the application our own Scott McNulty dubbed 'the Delicious Library for eBay auctions', has been bumped to version 3.1 with some very useful site interactivity and significant changes under the hood. iSale 3.1 can now relist unsold auctions and allow you to watch how many people have looked at and are watching your auction - right from within iSale. An improved widget can also display the watch count, hit count, highest bid and feedback from the highest bidder. Last in this new version is a localized and active links preview for English, German and French languages. Under the hood, iSale has been tuned for an upcoming change to eBay's communication standards which goes live on July 1st.

For a refresher, here's a list of the other features iSale already offers: beautiful auction templates, a 'funky pinboard' with photos of auction items, one-click locating of buyers with Google Maps, 'Smart Date' simplified auction scheduling, description importing from Amazon and eBay, Address Book/Mail integration, .Mac syncing, iCal scheduling and much more.

iSale 3.1 is a Universal Binary, offers a three-auction demo and sells for $39.95 USD. Upgrades from iSale 2.x are $14.90 USD.

is there any reason for this application? It doesn't look like it makes holding an auction any easier. And all the information it provides you on your auction you can get from the My eBay screen. Am I missing something?

iSale is a great looking app. BUT -- it requires internet activation! AND it's a node-locked single computer license. So you can't install on your laptop and your home tower without paying for it twice. Moving iSale to another Mac is likewise a pain.

I went with GarageSale. While not as polished, it's cheaper and allows two installs per license. And no internet activation!

Please write in and let the developer know that they need to be a little less Nazi-like in their licensing scheme.

There is a perfectly good alternative to this. It's called garage sale, and i use it and I think it's almost as good, if not better.

Sir Not Appearing in this Blog

You COULD go through auction by auction and edit out the badge, assuming you're only listing a few items or (if you're listing a bunch) you have infinite patience.

But I'd have to agree with Tyler and Dan... It seems ridiculous for them to insert an ad for their program into your auctions. Especially if you're paying for the software. Make it free and THEN you can advertise all you want. If I'm paying, it should be up to me whether or not I mention the application in my listings.

Slick, but $40 and they advertise themselves in your auctions? Eww.

If you're considering it, at least take a look at the competition. GarageSale ain't as pretty, but it synchronizes with My eBay, it's $15 cheaper, and it doesn't advertise itself in your auctions,.

Slick program, except the one annoying thing is that it places a big badge that reads "Made with iSale" right in the middle of your listing. I don't like advertising someone's software on my page.

Am I wrong? Can I turn this off?
