MyTunesRSS
MyTunesRSS turns your copy of iTunes into a podcasting machine. But Scott, I hear you say, iTunes already does podcasts, stupid. Yes, iTunes received podcasts but what if I told you MyTunesRSS can take your iTunes library (MP3's and unprotected AAC's) and create an RSS feed with enclosures (aka a podcast). You can podcast your entire library, or playlist by playlist. Pretty sweet.I'm not sure how useful this is, but it is very cool. You can make your very own podcasting radio station. MyTunesRSS is written in Java, is cross platform, and is donationware.

One more thing: putting your music on a webserver for public access is illegal but neither the web server or any other software and hardware involved in this is illegal. The same applies to MyTunesRSS. At no point does Codewave encourage people to share their music. It is meant for streaming music for your personal use, e.g. for taking your PSP with you in your house whereever you go and still being able to listen to your iTunes music. Using the software for illegal purposes does not make the software itself illegal.

This won't work for me cos I only have java 1.4.2 Where can I get 1.5 cos it doesn't show up in software update?

But first some testing is in order, the Nokia N91 can do RSS feeds and play music, so in theory this shud work fine. Will have to test it to see and if it does ill let my own readers know.
Thanks for the post and keep up the work!

If you LIKE the current version of MyTunesRSS, please check our website from time to time since you will LOVE the upcoming v2.0 then. Besides the simple search it will let you browse your entire library using the web interface.
I think this is awesome. I own a PSP and it can play music through an RSS feed. Sweet! No legal issues here. I'm listening to music I own. The only legal issue would be if you broadcast it to the world.

May 18 2006 at 6:05 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI can see this creating legal issues. Can you say C&D?

No, I'm not the only blogger... I just have more to say (and in crappier prose) than the others.
