I would so pay more for quicker shipping of my Apple products (I live in the UK). However, saying this, my MacBook was set to arrive on 30th May, and ended up getting to me by 24th May. It is often my experience that I recieve the products in 3 days rather than the 7, but its just nice to have the assurence that it WILL be here in a certain no. of days

It seems like I've been waiting forever for my 17" MBP to arrive. I would also have gladly paid extra if the option was there.

Do you really think this was worry of a post? A keen new blogger you may be but you need to recognise serious issues vs. filler. Complaining about 3-7 day shipping vs 2/3 day or 5 day is silly and a waste of readers' time. Were there a serious time difference (i.e. 7 days vs 30 days) it might have been worthy of note.

James, trivial though it may seem to you, to people living in Europe this is a major pain.
When I bought my MacBook I talked to several people in America who had ordered one with the expedited shipping. They got theirs two days after they were released. I waited 8 days, but I would have happily paid Apple to ship it faster.

... and I wait longer for European products to be sent to me in America. Why is the opposite such a surprise?

I received my MacBook Pro 15" after 2 days (ordered at the Apple Store by phone) and im a European. But i visited London last year, and if you get stuck in traffic there it is pretty logical that you will have to wait a few days extra.. (if you don't get the hint, it is really busy in London traffic)

Matt - all Macs come from China. Europe isn't much further away than America. Apple could easily ship their products to Europe as fast as it does to America, so why doesn't it?

Hm, what's a bid sad is that on the 23thr I went to the Apple Store and ordered a MacBook Pro. The site stated: 1 day delay. I added some ram and changed HD, then it said 3 days.
But now that I paid the delivery is scheduled for June 6! I know I live in Switzerland which isn't part of the European Union (we're the hole in the middle) but still 15 days seems a bit long when the site says 3.

I hear they charge Europeans in currencies other than dollars, too!
Um, why exactly would anyone assume the shipping would necessarily be the same, when entirely different countries, with different laws and customs systems and shipping industries etc, etc, etc are involved?
Perhaps shipping costs into the UK are highly variable over time, making a US-style shipping feature uneconomical for them to offer.
It's kinda hard to guess without more information. What carrier(s) does Apple use? Is it always the same, or do they use different carriers? What's the route the package follows? Is there an unpredictable delay in UK customs that would make a mockery of offers of expedited delivery?

"Apple could easily ship their products to Europe as fast as it does to America, so why doesn't it?"
Might have something to do with the fact that Europe and America have different laws and trade bureaucracies that effect the timing.
Maybe US style claims of "expedited shipping" is prohibited by law in Europe for some reason.

Maybe it's more difficult since europe is SEVERAL COUNTRIES.. Could affect things you know, I know we got EU and stuff, but still.. One county should be easier to coordinate and expedite I'd guess..

I ordered my Macbook the day it was released and it arrived exactly 1 week later. They did estimate that it would arrive by June 3rd though which I was annoyed with when I first ordered it!

Generally whenever I have ordered from Apple they have used TNT for their carrier in the UK.
If I need stuff quickly (and it is in stock) I use another supplier and get it next day before 10am.
I only usually order from Apple if a) it is new in which case there is usually a delay anyhow or b) a CTO

Shipping from the (online) Apple store has forced me to never use them again*. Tardy, hard to track, and goods get sent between depots and go missing most of the time IME.
Europe waited for iTMS, and it's waiting for recycling/refunded old Apple equipment. It trails behind for quite a bit one way or another...
*I would use the APple Store Regent Street if needed, but tend to use resellers.

Just to add to my point (and the debate) shipping anything in the UK usually sucks badly, it's not unique to Apple.

I ordered my MacBook some days ago, and the Apple Store website tells me, that they'll use "Fast Ship (EMEA)" as shipping method and pretends that it will be delivered one day after they ship it. (I live in Germany.)

I just moved from Europe to the US, we do have other shipping options in the EU. Don't confuse the UK with the EU mainland.
The UK has it own shipping and currency.
The EU shipping headquarters are located in Ireland and use of course Euros compared to the UK which still uses it's British Pounds.
People from EU mainland ordering have mostly overnight to 2-3 days shipping

What's confusing me is that Apple's US store is shipping to the UK at all? I thought that Apple wouldn't ship outside the 50 United States (except US forces/territories). It'd be great if they did, because $1189 (the UK price for a Macbook before tax) is a bit steep compared with the $1099 payed by a US resident (again, before tax)...

I'm in the UK. Last year I ordered PowerMac G5 & it took 2 days. A couple of weeks ago I ordered a MacBook Pro & it arrived the next day! :D
The last 2 Macs I've bought I've rung up & ordered them over the phone rather than ordering them online. Both times when ordering I asked how long they would take to arrive & both times the Apple sales person said the'yd put them on priority order for me & also 'see what they could do on the price'. They knocked off £54 off the PowerMac & £60 off the MacBook Pro's recommended prices.
I'd definately recommend ordering over the phone! :D
