iTheater media center launches new site, version bump

iTheater is an open source media center app for Mac OS X which we've blogged before. While I hear it's definitely still rough around the edges, the project has launched both a new site and a version bump to 0.1.2a - both sporting all-new UIs. Various bug fixes and other additions have made it into this updated version, but if you think it's still lacking in features (after all, it's a 0.1.2 alpha), you're in luck! They're also looking for developers to join the team and lend a hand.

Will this work on 10.3.9 or is it Tiger only?? Can't see any specs on the site. Cheers

I think this is great - thanks for putting this together guys. You get the sense that Apple will eventually release their own Media Center, but it is nice to see this coming out to fill the void in the mean time.

I think it's great tha tthey are trying but development is so slow, mediacentral seems to show more promise at the moment. Neither really do significantly more than FrontRow from what I see, though hopefully with the inclusion of 3rd party plugins they may eventually provide a distinct advantage over FrontRow.

This program has potential, but it also has major problems. They need more developers, and they need to get a lot of fundamentals working on it. It barely plays media, the weather widget it has only has one city, it doesn't put the playlists in any order, etc...
If they can get more developers interested I'm sure it would be badass...and I'm glad they changed the UI. I'm a designer, so I can't actually help them out, but I would if I could.

These projects (CenterStage included) are dead in the water. They all "need developers" and will both never get them. Two years of development have still not borne any fruit. I would love to see them succeed, but I can't get my hopes up.
We have a better chance of Apple opening Front Row to plug-in development, or MediaCentral getting more powerful.
