Free Superman Returns clip via iTunes Music Store

James Young wrote in to tell us about an exclusive premiere scene of 'Superman Returns' that is available on the iTunes Music Store. Now, I love a free clip as much as the next guy but that's not why James emailed us. He noticed that the clip is categorized as a 'Movie.'

Does this lend credence to the idea that movies are next up on the iTunes Music Store? Well, it is a stretch but odder things have happened.

Scott, please note in future articles if the things you link to are actually available to everyone in the rest of the world or just residents of the USA.

Who even cares? This movie is going to crash harder than a ZX-81. Serves Warners right for screwing over the cast of Smallville. The film is just a rehash of the old Donner films with updated CGI and an arguably ineffectual cast and characterization. To say that the fans were clamouring for this is like claiming there's vast public interest in Ashley Simpson's further exploits as a singer.

Ah no, wait. I can only see the preview. To see the full movie, I have to be have a US acount. That is BS.

You have to switch to the US store but you can just switch back afterwards. iTunes doesn't let me buy music from foreign stores but I can still view free content from them.

Hi, thanks for the attribution on this. But now I see it's so that I can get flamed for this categorization being nothing new. Save me Superman... LOL ;-)

This is absurd. The "movie" designation applied to the shorts that were avaliable for purchase for a long time. Movies are in the works, no doubt, but this isnt the first sign of this.

Down with region coding, country specific distribution, anti-competitive DRM, and all that other garbage that shows Hollywood doesn't have a clue how media works and people move around in the 21st century.

Is it an encrypted MP4 video file? If not, maybe some could post it somewhere.

I'm sure it will be on YouTube and referenced from Digg anyway.
