Apple store down

The Apple Store (US at least, all around the world) is down at the moment. Could this mean some cool new product, or just some maintenance? It is probably just Apple's web elves fixing something, but where's the fun in that?

Thanks to all who sent this in!

UPDATE: The Store is back up and it looks like it was just a little maintenance.

UPDATE II: It turns out nothing was added to the US store (or any others for that matter), but the EU Apple stores had things removed. You can no longer get iSights, eMacs or Airport base stations in the EU because they do not comply with stricter environmental laws in the member countries. Thanks to everyone in the comments for pointing this out. More details here.

AirPorts and iSights were removed before the update. I was looking for them at the Danish store earlier in the day, and they weren't there.

The reason some products are now missing in Europe from the web shop is that products now cannot contain lead, like from lead solder. All electronic products now have to be ROHS compliant (look up the accronym yourself!). There will still be these products in retail for a time, until sold out.
I work for a hardware company and we are doing the same thing.
Now, I hope that Apple is planning to produce ROHS-compliant products for Europe, as the company I work for is! Heck, they're all made in the same part of China so it shouldn't be a problem. From a logistics point of view they should just do the right thing and make ALL their products ROHS compliant, which would be good for the US environment also.
Apple IS on this "green" kick aren't they?

It seems like Apple made a mistake [It's Monday!]
They're obviously saving the 2000" iPod for tomorrow!

Some more great blogging here. (sarcasm)

It wasn't maintenance the EU store lost all products that didn't meet the EU hazard materials regulations.

Airport Extreme, iSight and a few other products where removed.

Actually there is a difference, at least in the German store the iSight was removed, just as announced. My guess would be that hat is the reason.
