Scobleizer hints at "dizzying amount" of new Apple products
As I write this, I'm still contemplating the implications of getting Apple tips from a former Microsoft evangelizer's blog, but check this out as I philosophize for the afternoon: The Scobleizer (yea, the one and only), dropped a huge (yet unfortunately vague) hint of what Apple has up their sleeve: "Speaking of Apple, they are readying a dizzying amount of new products. I wish I could camp out at an Apple store during the World Wide Developer Conference on August 7th". Apparently (we're trusting you on this Ron!), Mr. Scoble's brother actually works for Apple, which is why he also goes on to decline commenting any further for fear of the Wrath of Jobs™.Hey, Mr. Scoble, you can spill some juicy tidbits. Apple gave up on that case for ousting that other blogger; why not give it a shot?
Thanks Chris G.

Well it's one way for Scoble to try and increase hits on his site. Not very credible... but then things must be tough for him now without the Microsoft safety net.

That should be "Scobleizer", not "Scobelizer" in the title.

The other hint:
http://scobleizer.wordpress.com/2006/08/01/looking-at-vista/
"I believe Vista DOES make our computing lives easier. The desktop search features are a huge advance. The multimedia capabilities are WORLDS ahead of anything else I’ve used. And the Tablet PC, Speech Recognition, and Media Center stuff that’s in there is WORLDS ahead of Apple. Although watch Apple in a week. Hint hint."

Hmmm...
Camp out at an Apple Store during the Keynote.
Sounds like a good idea.
Anyone if people actually do this?
I think I will.
Southdale, MN.
Be there.

Maybe David Chartier should take some law courses before telling people that it's okay to leak a trade secret. Clue number 1: Apple didn't "give up" on their case against Jason O'Grady; they simply aren't planning to appeal the courts ruling. There's a big difference, namely that they aren't prevented from pursuing it at a later date by naming O'Grady as a defendant.
Clue number 2: the so-called reporter's shield law only applies in California, and it's not absolute by any means. Robert Scoble is supposedly still in Washington state, where there is no such law.
Practicing law without a licenses is itself a crime, and by giving legal advice such as this, inciting someone to commit a crime, would make Mr. Chartier just as liable as Mr. Scoble if he were to leak a trade secret.

difference between Apple mentality and Microsoft employees, Microsoft say they are interested in making "computing lives" easier. I think that reffers to dealing with viruses, missing file types, crashing etc. (?) Where as the Apple idea is that this stuff reflects in our 'real lifes', the computer life scoble talks about only has to be improved because M$ made such a mess of giving the masses a popular and buggy computer OS.
this has nothing to do with the article, sorry... i was shocked, needed some geeks to call out to, :D. I believe Scoble is full of *it again, for hits. This is a Developer conference, New OS, big screens maybe. No new iPod, Tablet, consumer-ready stuff to come for another month or two. (my bet)

Scoble knows nothing. He's been hoping for a Mac Tablet for two years (unsucccessfully predicted its release twice), and now hopes for it again based on the recent patents.
He has a brother-in-law that works for Apple but in a low-level, uninteresting position.
Otherwise, he has zero Apple sources and has been wrong numerous times when he tries to predict anything regarding Apple.

Apple have thrived on the chatter, hype and excitement of possible new products since I can remember, now some politically correct attitude says we should not try to unearth new developments at the earliest possible time! Come On! Go Skoble!
Apple sometimes wants its cake and eat it too, Apples future is in the continued love of its loyal users, of whom I am one.

I was wrong. It is his brother-in-law not his brother.

David -- there is a vast legal difference between offering an opinion on the law and practicing law without a license. No reasonable person would expect a random blog entry on TUAW to be legal advice, unless the person presenting it specifically stated they were a lawyer offering legal advice. That's why most lawyers end comments with "I am a lawyer but this is not legal advice."

Wow, David. You think he might have been, uh.. joking about that leak thing? No need to get all tense.

OK.
So. Let's think about this. What is the most devastating affliction of Apple Fandom? Post Keynote Letdown Syndrome (PKLS). It afflicts thousands who read the blogs and rumor sites and get their hopes up for a plethora of amazing earth shaking products – except 95% of the rumors turn out to be wrong. (Personally I liked Jason O'Grady's little faux rumor about HD Plasm TV Macs at last MacWorld... humorous and meant to be). Sorry for the digression. But let's say you are a sadistic Windows fanatic (i'm not characterizing Robert Scoble here, just talking in abstracts) but wouldn't this Windows fan take great pleasure in stoking the fires of Mac Fandom's desires for new products at WDC Keynote, knowing that in the end most of them won't come true and Mac fandome will suffer a brief bout of depression; until MacWorld SF 2007 is in site and the viscous cycle starts all over again.

Schadenfreude, eh? That's quite lateral. Do you really think he would go to such lengths?

Not really, in your case. It's usually only the SF store, right around the corner, that is fully stocked post- WWDC or MacWorld announcements.

Norm-
Tell me more about the "viscous cycle." Is that the one that runs on STP? Oh, wait. Maybe you were talking about a viscious circle.

Bob-
Tell me more about this "viscious circle." Is that a fictional circle? Oh, wait. Maybe you were talking about a vicious circle. Sort of like this one in which you pick upon the grammar of others. Mellow out, and check your spelling before you make a snide remark.

Frank, LOL. Bob's inane comment inadvertently lead to what I call "instant karma": where one receives the instantaneous embarassment of one's doltish actions, such as Frank's and now my subsequent comments. I need not reword Frank's statement for it says it all, but I do like poking fun at people who like to poke fun at people (and yes, my hypocrisy is purposed).
