Apple and Coke team up for European iTMS promotion
That Apple + Coca Cola promo we mentioned in June has been made a reality, but only in Europe - at least for now. MSNBC is reporting that iTunes has launched "the deepest alliance of its kind" to promote the iTMS on Coke's website in the UK and Germany, as the company will also be giving away 70 million songs on its products in a promo that sounds just like the Pepsi partnership of a year or so ago. Interestingly, Apple declined to comment on whether shaking hands with Coke meant that they had to stop drinking from the Pepsi fountain. It sounds like all you TUAW readers in the UK and Germany can keep your eyes out for the promotion to hit Coke's website and products sometime this month. Happy downloading!

That would be John Sculley...

August 04 2006 at 11:11 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyI'm so sad about the turn Apple's taken. First working with Nike, with their sweatshops, and now side by side with Coca Cola Company, who poisons ground water and murders union members... Where's apple going?

As a die hard Coca-Cola fan I'm hoping they bring this to the US. I had no idea there were so many coke haters out there.

August 02 2006 at 4:38 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWith CokaCola's record of setting up factories in Indian villages starving them of water, and then when challenged moving on to the next one, forgive me if I continue not drinking the stuff even if it is on iTMS.
Coke is a dying brand and its trying to grab onto the growing brand of Apple to pull it's self up.
I'm sorry, but Coke's opening page is one of the worst designs I've ever seen. I had to try 3 times to keep my mouse on track with the menu.
